Frequently asked questions

The questions our sales team hears most often – with solid answers and the standards behind them.

Dimensions, weight, load capacity, exchange, export, lead time

What are the dimensions of a euro pallet?

A euro pallet measures 1,200 × 800 × 144 mm and has a footprint of 0.96 m². It can be picked up from all four sides, which makes it a four-way pallet. The WORLD pallet is produced exclusively in this size to EN 13698-1.

How much does a euro pallet weigh?

A new euro pallet weighs roughly 22 to 25 kg, depending on the residual moisture of the timber. Kiln-dried pallets below 20 % residual moisture sit at the lower end of that range.

What load can a WORLD pallet carry?

Supported in racking or on the forks of an industrial truck, the following nominal loads apply: 1,200 kg for a freely distributed load, 1,700 kg for an evenly distributed load and 2,200 kg for a compact load resting uniformly across the full deck. In full-surface stacking the bottom pallet carries up to 6,000 kg.

What does MFH capability mean?

MFH is the German abbreviation for machine-handling capable, conveyor-compatible and suitable for high-bay racking. Falkenhahn AG gives a 100 % quality guarantee on these properties for every pallet leaving the plant, backed by fully automatic contour measurement of each individual pallet.

Can WORLD pallets be exchanged?

Yes. WORLD euro pallets comply with EN 13698-1 and have free access to the open euro pallet exchange pool. They are classified according to GS1 quality classes A, B and C. Fitting RFID transponders does not exclude them from exchange either. Note that there is no legal obligation to exchange pallets.

What is the difference between WORLD and EPAL?

Both brands meet the same technical requirements under EN 13698-1. Falkenhahn AG produced under EPAL licence until 2007 and secured the exclusive licence rights for the WORLD pallet in Europe in 2008, aligning the company with increasingly international markets. CHEP and LPR also operate in this market as rental pool systems.

What does a euro pallet cost?

The price depends on quantity, quality, drying and delivery location. For a firm figure we need your annual volume, the specification required and the delivery address – you will receive a binding quote within 24 hours on working days.

Do I need ISPM 15 treatment for export?

For shipments to many non-EU countries, yes. On request we supply the WORLD pallet as an export pallet to the IPPC standard ISPM 15. This kills all parasites and insects present in the wood, in particular the sirex woodwasp. Falkenhahn AG is authorised for this treatment under registration number DE-TH1-490409.

How quickly can you deliver?

We permanently keep several days of production in stock – with an annual capacity of 10 million pallets and more than 80,000 m² of storage space. Delivery is made just in time using our own vehicle fleet.

Can pallets be repaired?

Yes. The WORLD pallet is designed as a returnable pallet; the licence covers production and repair worldwide. Repairability is also a central argument under the new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
