Euro pallet exchange pool
In an open euro pallet exchange pool, individual pallet organisations and brand owners cannot control the exchange. It is subject to the self-regulation of the market.

The Competence Center for Returnable Transport Items
The CC MTV was set up by GS1 Germany as a neutral, cross-industry platform. Its aim is to increase the efficiency of the logistics chain together with manufacturing, retail and service providers. Falkenhahn AG is a member.
What an open pool means in practice
WORLD euro pallets comply with EN 13698-1 and are classified according to the GS1 quality classes. They are exchanged in the open pool like any other compliant euro pallet. Fitting RFID transponders does not exclude them from exchange either.
The catch with exchange
There is no obligation to exchange. That is the core of the problem the GS1 study points to: exchange rests on individual agreements that nobody can enforce. Sorting, inspection and settlement effort as well as shrinkage become costs that appear on no invoice – and make exchange uneconomic in the long run.
To make those costs visible, the “resale with added value” logistics concept provides the counter-calculation, including a cost calculator.
